The US Army came to Eagle Tugs with the need for a utility aircraft tractor, which had flatbed capabilities, but that had the same reliable all wheel drive power train as the Eagle TT-series aircraft tugs they were currently using. Eagle responded by designing a Utility Standard Aircraft Towing System named USATS. USATS is a 6,000 lb to 8,000 lb Drawbar Pull aircraft tractor that also has a 60 in by 90 in deck that supports up to a 2,000 lb payload. The best feature of the USATS is that it does share the same proven, all wheel drive power train as the Eagle TT-series aircraft tractors. The all wheel drive power train allows for the USATS to weigh 1/3 less than a rear-wheel drive tractor, which makes it better for air transportability, and makes it superior for operation in unimproved areas. With the flexibility of the all wheel drive power train and the 2,000 lb payload capacity, the USATS is the most flexible, reliable utility aircraft tractor available on the market.
